The Problem

Etsy is a search engine with its own rulebook. Titles max out at 140 characters, and the first words carry the most weight. Tags cap at 20 characters each. The opening of the description shows up in search results, so a listing’s hook can make or break a click.

Handmade sellers are makers, not marketers. They know their product, not the rulebook - and they don’t have time to learn it while running a shop. Generic AI tools don’t help either. Ask one to write a listing and you get something that reads fine but ignores the mechanics that help a listing get found.

The Approach

Sixteen tools, one workflow

Instead of one giant “write my listing” button, I built CopySprout as a set of focused tools. Listing Title, Listing Description, Tag Set, Review Response, About Your Shop, FAQ Set, Thank-You Note, Social Posts - each one does one job. Sixteen tools in total, covering everything a seller writes.

Rules baked in, not bolted on

Every tool knows Etsy’s limits. Titles come out under 140 characters with keywords up front. Tags come out under 20 characters, grouped by material, style, occasion, and buyer. The description opens with a hook that fits the 160-character search snippet. The seller never has to know any of this - it’s built into the writing.

Plain English in, ready-to-paste out

No prompt engineering. A seller fills in boxes - product, materials, audience - and gets output ready to paste into Etsy. History saves in the browser so they can reuse what worked.

Shared backend

CopySprout uses the same Firebase backend as the rest of my products - one database, one auth system, one Stripe integration. Accounts and billing weren’t reinvented, and the product got to focus on the writing.
